What is retained
After a health review, some organisations want us back on a dated cycle rather than waiting for the next bad quarter. Retained Observation is three days each quarter on the same application: we re-read a fresh slice of incidents, sit with whoever now owns on-call, and write a comparison against the last brief.
What it is not
It is not a substitute for your own operators. We still do not take the pager. We still do not run your monitoring product. If the application changes owners and nobody will sit with us, we stop the retainer rather than invent a report.
Terms of the quarter
The three days are booked in the first fortnight of the quarter unless a severity-one event forces a shift. Unused days do not roll forward. Cancellation terms are in the refund notice.
Starting
We only open a retainer after at least one Application Health Review on that application, so there is a brief to compare against. Ask for a quarterly figure once that review exists.
